The giving season is upon us and Portage Plains United Way's hoping to tap into your generosity over the holidays.

Executive Director Mandy Dubois says donations always heat up once the snow arrives, and she's thankful it did. "I think we're very fortunate that the snow came," she says. "Last week, I think I was the only person that was excited about the blizzard because it seems the snow comes, the holiday season comes, and everyone gets into that giving spirit. I just think the community needs to give back, we all need to give back to the community because so many people rely on us."

Whether it's the United Way or any other organization, giving back at this time of year is necessary. She says there's not much time for you to donate, but they can accept donations for this year's Campaign into 2017.

"We need our donations to come in before December 31st. If you're thinking of making a donation we're in our office every day from 9-4 except for the 26th and 27th our office will be closed. After that, it's January, so other than those two days we are open. Any donation that gets put in the mail, as long as they're marked December 31st on the cheque date will go into the 2016 campaign. So I know the mail can be slow at this time of year, even if we don't get it before the date if it's postmarked and made out for before December 31st we put it toward this Campaign."

She adds the best way to get your donation in is through their website here.
