Kindergartens, grades one, two, and three students from Oakville School wrapped up a unique inquiry learning project recently.

Monika Metzlaff teacher at the school and she explains the project was all about butterflies.

"In this one we let the students start with their questions," says Metzlaff.

She adds, the students loved the project and learned about the insect's life cycle, migration, and more.

To wrap up the English Language Arts and Science project, students showcased artwork, stories, videos, and presentations to their parents during an assembly.

Tricia Sawchuk also teaches at the school, and she brought in the live critters, so students could watch them grow, and then watch them fly away into the wild.

Sawchuk this allows students to see something they may not see otherwise.

"Some of the kids in grade three have seen it happen in grade one but have a different perspective as they're now watching in grade three with some things they've learned along the way," says Sawchuck.

During the assembly, students proudly showed off their works to their parents, grandparents, and friends.
