The Portage Fire Department was called to a camper truck fire overnight on Crescent Road in Portage la Prairie.

A fire department official says crews were dispatched around 12:15 a.m. to a residential house on the 200 block of Crescent Road W, where a fire from a camper had spread to a half-tonne truck. The blaze further spread and scorched a small amount of the residence, but firefighters managed to extinguish it before further loss. There were no injuries. The fire department estimates damage totalled about $30,000.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
