P3 Funding will be discussed at tonight's town hall meeting in Portage la Prairie.

It's at the MNP Building and CUPE Local 1002's Terry Thompson says the public has only been hearing the good aspects of the model.

"Hopefully we'll be able to bring to the light the bad aspects of a P3 model, what other communities and provinces have experienced and what changes they made to stop using them because they turned out not to work as good as they had said."

He says the city wants an outside company to design, build, operate and maintain a new Water Treatment Plant.

"It makes sense a company would put out the money and everything, but they have to make some money off of it. Right now we're running the plant and we're getting it at cost price. If we had someone design and build it then we'd operate it and maintain it afterwards. It would be the normal thing and we'd get the interest rates."

He encourages everyone to stop by the meeting and voice their opinion and ask questions. It starts at 7 at the MNP Building.
