The graduating class at PCI received their diplomas yesterday as PCI School held it's graduation exercises at the PCU Centre. PCI Principal Greg Waldvogel shares his thoughts on the class of 2016.

"This was a very big class of 196 and, like I said, we had 138 to graduate with distinction. It was a great day recognizing all of the graduating students and all of our award winners, and giving out about $85,000 yesterday afternoon. It was a great day and we're going to carry it on with the prom and the safe grad to finish off the weekend."

4 students received awards at the ceremony last night. Hayley Bedard and Kaeley Simpson both received PCI Centennial School Spirit Award, as well as PCI Citizenship awards. Simpson comments on receiving the awards.

"It feels really great to receive the awards! I was involved in the school a lot and I absolutely loved it, so it's really great to end the night off with a couple of awards."

Cora Hildebrandt received the Andrew Howden Business Scholarship, which is an award given to a student who has stated an interest in pursuing post-secondary studies in business at the University of Manitoba. She says it was awesome to receive the award, which has a value of $4,325.

"It was really nice to get the award. It feels great to be recognized for working so hard at what you want, and it's an extra little bonus on top of graduating."

Emily Upgang was presented the Governor General's Medal for having the highest grade point average through grade 11 and 12. She says she put in a lot of work through the years to receive the honour.

"It's been a long 4 years, and a lot of hard courses, but it feels good to know that it paid off that's for sure."
