Yesterday was the annual general meeting for the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC).

Victoria Olson"Last year marked a turning point with the Home Beautifications Grant," says Victoria Olson, acting executive director, as she recounts the events throughout previous year. "Now there's been over half a million dollars invested into home repairs within the community over the past nine years. We had several Revitalize Portage grants which went out into the community. The Dirt Dash was a huge success, and the community consultation was so important."

Looking ahead, she notes they'll develop new strategies as to how to tackle their new areas of focus, while plenty will remain the same, with the continued help of everyone who makes their efforts possible.

Olson notes their financial situation looks great with an excess in revenue of over $17,000. She adds it was a good fiscal year.

Jordan Friesen, Canadian Mental Health Association Central executive director, was involved with the Greasy Chain project for community bicycle repairs and presented that effort. Recreation Opportunities for Kids board chair Sheri Blaylock also presented about their cooperation with PCRC.
