Schools throughout the Portage la Prairie School Division are having some work done this summer.

Supervisor of Operations Tom Henry says there's a lot of different work happening around the division, including getting rid of all carpet.

"Systematically we're removing all the carpet in all of the classrooms and we're installing what's called sheet vinyl. It saves on shampooing the carpets and trying to get them dry for September in this humidity is difficult. So that's going into all the buildings, starting with Arthur Meighen and at Crescentview as well. At Crescentview we're also removing the old parking lot fence, and replacing it with steel beams."

He outlines some of the work being done at Fort la Reine.

"We're replacing all of the windows and drapes in that school, and we're going on with the finishing of the air conditioning system at the school."

PCI's getting some work done, starting with the combing of their work out rooms.

"We've also done some renovations to the exercise room in moving the equipment from PCI West across to PCI East. We're also going in with a public school funded new boiler installation, and in both of the buildings we're looking at upgrading the entire CCTV camera system. Hopefully, that will be up and running for the first day of school as well."

He adds the final large project is at La Verendrye.

"La Verendrye we're also replacing the flooring, and we're also refinishing the entire gym floor."
