Artists looking to have their work displayed at the Portage District and Arts Centre (PDAC) could get that opportunity.

There's a call out for submissions for the PDAC 2018-19 art exhibition season, and the centre's marketing and events coordinator Lee Beaton says a wide variety of works can be submitted.

"It could be paintings, it could be sculpture, it could be water colour, it could be pencil crayon," Beaton says. "There are so many different media that can be accepted. We've even had fabric art, quilts, pottery and photography exhibitions."

Beaton says they welcome art from anywhere, and stresses it's a great opportunity to get noticed.

"If you're a local artist, a regional artist, or from elsewhere, it is a phenomenal gallery we have here in Portage la Prairie," Beaton explains. "It's a great opportunity to showcase your artwork in a beautiful space."

"And your artwork will look completely different in a display space compared to your home," she continues. "It will help highlight great artwork."

Beaton adds applications are evaluted by an exhibition committee on many different criteria. "We might consider if it's something that will look well in our gallery," she says, "or if it's relevant to the community."

"There's a lot of things the committee looks at while they're reviewing."

The deadline to apply for consideration is Dec. 23, 2016. Application must include an artist's statement, resume, biography and exhibit sypnosis -- among other details. For more information, contact the Arts Centre.
