The Portage Friendship Centre drew a large crowd Thursday night in Portage la Prairie as it honoured all the many volunteers that make the Centre work as everyone enjoyed a meal.

Treasurer Lisa Myran received an award and notes the importance of their several volunteers.

(L-R) Hazel Desjardin, Shirley Bernard, Lisa Myran, John Taylor & Daryl Taylor"We took a few moments to actually celebrate all our volunteers that make our Centre awesome," says Myran. "I know I'm technically a volunteer, but it's all of the effort with the staff and all these volunteers that make the Centre wonderful. There were six different programs who presented awards tonight."

Secretary Hazel Desjardin says the volunteers do a lot of work helping people at the centre and throughout the community, bringing happiness to so many.

Elder John Taylor was there and received an award for his efforts in talking with youth about traditional values and anything they're willing to learn. He adds he gets a lot of help from his son Daryl.
