Portage la Prairie and the surrounding region are continuing to enjoy a historic March, weather-wise. Chris St. Clair with the Weather Network says the city has seen several daytime temperature records fall over the past week.

St. Clair says these former benchmarks are not just being broken, but being shattered; and in some cases by a double digit increase. He says we are seeing a once in a lifetime event, as this kind of record breaking warmth is a statistically a one in 500 to a one in 1000 year occurrence.

But he also notes it will likely be back to normal weather wise for the weekend as a cold front travelling across the prairies will push through and bring things back down to the seasonal averages.
