Two men face numerous charges in relation to Tuesday's police standoff at an Oak Bay residence in Portage la Prairie, where suspects barricaded themselves in a home until the RCMP Emergency Response Team entered in force to arrest them.

Mounties say Francis Markus Beaulieu, 27 of Portage la Prairie faces 12 charges, including Uttering Threats, Resist/Obstruct Peace Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and numerous firearms charges. Joel John Beaudin, 27, also of Portage la Prairie, is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance: Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. Both remain in custody.

Two females were also in the home on July 18 and exited when police deployed tear gas. They were initially arrested and then released, with RCMP saying the two were being treated as witnesses and possibly victims. Police say the investigation continues and they are still trying to determine witnesses or victims.

The RCMP says additional charges could still be laid in the matter.
