It was business as usual for the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie as they held a council meeting on April 14th.

The RM has been conducting its businesses virtually throughout the pandemic, and this meeting was no different.

CAO Nettie Neudorf says during the meeting, they awarded a contract for the hauling and spreading of gravel.

“So, the resolution that was passed was for Meseyton Construction to be awarded the 2020 gravel hauling and spreading contract for the unit price of $105.93 per hour for a driver, truck, and trailer. It was $101.65 per hour for a driver, truck, and tandem trailer.”

Last year’s contract was awarded to Eddie’s Gravel Supply LTD.

Neudorf outlines how this will affect the budget.

“Our 2020 budget has $150,000 allocated for this project, for gravel hauling and spreading.”

Council anticipates that they’ll go all summer long.

“Last year, there were two applications of gravel throughout the RM, and that was the first in a very long time. If the weather cooperates, it just may be the same.”
