Two more Portage Collegiate students were recognized for their efforts in the school's Positive Referral Program.

They each received $250.00 gift cards from Canadian Tire for their efforts.

Teacher Kellee Clifford-Bousquet stresses there are other prizes as well.

"We have winners every month, that get something from the canteen, and things like that," she says, "And kids are really excited and proud to be recognized for what they feel is just being themselves. We really appreciate their positive impact."

Grade 9 student Rylan Crawford says it's great to be recognized.

"It's a great way to appreciated," he says, "For doing all the good we're doing in class."

Erin Owens is also in grade 9, and plans to use it for a Father's Day gift.

"Also, my mom's friend is collecting soccer balls for kids in Africa," she says, "So I was thinking about buying that, and then maybe some sports equipment for me, or something."

Canadian Tire GM Ben Burgoyne calls being involved as a great way to spread positivity.

"If you're positive, the kids are going to learn better, they're going to enjoy socializing better," he feels, "And if they can learn that now, and take it for rest of their life, it's a great thing."
