The University of Manitoba Faculty Association's meeting tonight, and could be back in the classrooms tomorrow.

Portage la Prairie U of M Student Hayley Bedard says she was hit pretty hard by the strike and outlines what she decided to do with her time.

"Two of my classes and one of my labs were cancelled because of the strike. I decided that it would be best for me to come back to Portage during the strike. The past couple of weeks have mostly been preparing for the mid-terms that might happen after the strike ends. Basically, I've been continuing my education by myself waiting for the strike to end."

Bedard says the strike definitely threw a wrench into a lot of first-year students' school year.

"I got the first round of mid-terms over before the Thanksgiving break but right before the strike started I was prepping for the second round of mid-terms, and those were also supposed to happen during the first week that the strike was going on. So basically there's a lot of uncertainty between students and faculty."

She says it's been tough for a lot of her and her fellow students from outside of Winnipeg, but they're hopeful things will be taken care of tonight.
