With just over a month to go, Portage Plains United Way (PPUW) is still sitting below the halfway point in its annual fundraising drive.

PPUW executive director Mandy Dubois says they're about 43 per cent of the way towards reaching the 2016 goal of $247,500 --- 15 per cent behind where the organization was at this point in last year's drive.

"We creeped up a little bit over the past week, and donations have been coming in," Dubois says. "I think as the end of November approaches, whether we have snow or not, people will start to come in and think about making those donations."

Dubois says there is some concern among member agencies that PPUW may miss the target, which would have a direct impact on those agencies.

"They're concerned that we won't make this goal because they rely on that funding," explains Dubois. "But they have confidence in us that we're doing the best we can to get out there and get those donations.

"And they're also calling us to step up and see what they can do to help as well."

Dubois notes PPUW has been hard at work to move the drive along by soliciting contributions from past donors. She adds there are still some corporate donations expected to come in that should move them closer to the target.

"Hopefully in the next couple of weeks the donations start rolling in and we can see that thermometer rise," Dubois says.
