Winnipeg Jets True North Foundation in collaboration with Healthy Child Manitoba has started a new program called Project 11, and it is being offered to several school division across the province.

The project itself is designed for students in grades five and six and intends to support students and their teachers with mental wellness practices. The project is also designed to bring positive coping skills into the students lives, creating a stage of empathy in the classroom and naturally increasing academic success among students with it's positive background.

So far over three hundred and sixty teachers across Manitoba have joined Project 1, including School Division in the Pembina Valley like Borderland and Red River Valley. Sanford's J.A Kuddy School will begin to implement the project in the classroom in the next few weeks.

"Project 11 is a cross curricular program targeting Manitoba's English language arts and physical education outcome," says J.A Kuddy School Principal Scott Thompson.

Thompson adds due to this being the first year of implementation for Project 11, it's important to see how the project works in many different communities across the province.

This will help True North Foundation and Healthy Child Manitoba determine the benefits to the student.

Information about any of your children taking part in the project will be grouped and and never individual specific, including confidentiality.
