Five Portage la Prairie Organizations received donations yesterday at the PCU Centre.

Profits from the 2015 RBC Cup were handed out to the PRRA, the Portage Terriers Scholarship Fund, the BDO Centre, Portage Minor Hockey, and Arron Asham's Chance 2 Play Foundation. Host Committee Co-chair Dave Patsack was thrilled to finally hand out the money.

"Both Dale and I are very proud of the event and how it went off. It's nice to have it wrapped up. This has been going on for a long time now, since the time we put our first application in to host several years ago, it seems like a long time ago. It was a very successful event. We probably generated over $270,000 in profit from it. That went back into a legacy."

Patsack says it's a good chunk of change.

"About $170,000 back into the PCU Centre, and we gave out an excess of $150,000 (yesterday). It wouldn't have been done without the support of our community and the sponsorships, as well as the local fans who came and supported it. It's nice to be done."

He explains how they were selected.

"We tried to move the money around the community, and it was through Hockey Canada. The legacy had to be approved by them and we submitted a list of names, a short list, and they approved them and that's how we went with it."
