RCMP throughout the province are taking precautions along with everyone else during the COVID-19 crisis. Media Relations officer Sgt. Paul Manaigre describes the new routine.

"We are still continuing to respond to calls," says Manaigre. "Depending on the type of call, some of them, if they're deemed non-urgent or can be dealt with another day, they will be put aside. But for the most part, officers will deal with the public or clients that we come across. We just have to be cognizant now of the factors that are out there,"

He notes social distancing also applies to them, and they have to care for themselves so the officers do not become ill. Manaigre says if they're not able to come to work, it doesn't benefit anyone. He adds they have the equipment including hand sanitizers, gloves, and a mask.

"When the officers deem it appropriate to put it on, if the situation warrants, it is available to them," continues Manaigre. "They will wear it accordingly. If we do actually have any officers that test positive, we do provide that information to the public."
