Portage hosted the Manitoba Water and Waste Water Association conference this past week. Wayne Wall, city councillor and water works committee chair, says it was an exciting event.

"I've been a member of that association for 22 years myself, and the City of Portage la Prairie has strongly supported the Manitoba Water and Waste Water Association throughout," says Wall. "They're an organization that trains and educates operators to operate water and waste water facilities in a safe manner to protect public health."

Wall says over 300 delegates attended, breaking the record for the Portage conference that alternates between here, Winnipeg and Brandon, putting it here every three years.
