Spring's approaching, and while it's good news for most of us, in the RM of Coldwell, that's mixed with apprehension.

Reeve Brian Sigfusson says they're keeping an eye on the potential for flooding along Lake Manitoba, and there's a level of frustration.

"It bothers me that we've been after our governments for a long time to get going on this thing," he says, "We have to wait until we get into another one (flood) all the time. I don't know why. There has to be more efforts put into that, to deal with our first nations people, and environment."

Sigfusson's especially upset about environmental issues slowing the process.

"What do you think it does to the environment that kills all the trees, and kills all the stuff along the shoreline? Where's the environment on that thing? If they kept it at a more uniform level, you don't run into those problems."

Sigfusson plans to attend an EMO meeting Thursday in Selkirk, dealing with the issue.
