Val Cutting has officially retired as Assistant CAO for the RM of Portage la Prairie.

Reeve Kam Blight says yesterday was an emotional day, and they can't thank her enough for her service.

"We just presented her with a plaque for her 31 years of service to our Municipality. We can't thank Val enough for everything she's done. For me especially coming in as a new Reeve not involved with politics, she's been tremendous to me. I'm very sad to see her go, it's a huge loss to our Municipality but I also know we're in great hands with Andrea coming in, and I think Val's always a phone call away."

Cutting gives her thoughts on her time with the RM.

"It's kind of an emotional day. They surprised me with flowers and a plaque. They've also been so good to me, and I appreciate the kind words and the gifts, and I will miss them immensely."

She says she plans to stop in once in a while.

"I'm not going away forever, so I'll come back and visit. But I really appreciate everything they've done for me."

Cutting adds it was a great career, and she's thankful for everyone she's worked with.
