Assessments are on the rise in the RM of Victoria.

Reeve Harold Purkess says the municipality recently heard from the Manitoba Assessment Services Branch, and the total taxable assessment base is rising about 29.2 per cent. Farmland assessments are rising 30.6 per cent on average, while residential property is up 29.4 per cent.

"It's all based on local sales, and the pricing of housing seems to have increased considerably since the last reassessment," Purkess explains. "The 29.2 per cent (average) would be if our municipal mill rates remain exactly the same as they are today. But they would probably be lower, as usually when assessments increase, mill rates tend to be lower."

The reassessments impact the 2018 and 2019 tax years.
