Discussions on setbacks for bulk fuel tanks in the RM of Woodlands continue within RM Council.

Reeve Trevor King says the issue has come up multiple times in the past, and council has always been split on the issue. King says they've finally agreed on one side of the issue for the tanks at the Warren Industrial Park.

"There've been a few concerns around the council table that we need some setbacks to those bulk storage tanks, and we just haven't come up with an agreement on the residential end of things as far as the distance goes, but as far as the commercial/highway/industrial we finally have come to an agreement that there would be 0 setbacks in that area."

He adds it's the residential side of things they're having trouble agreeing on.

"A little while back we'd had some resolutions on the table as far as the setbacks go. I think there were 3 different resolutions, and they were all defeated. So council -- there's a little bit of a division there as far as what we want to agree on -- we just need another little discussion on the residential end and hopefully, we can come to a consensus and move forward with that as well."

He expects council to come to an agreement soon with strong discussions.
