The RMs of Westlake-Gladstone and Portage la Prairie have been cooperating with gravel road work, and recently had to adjust their agreement due to increased traffic.

"The boundary road (48 West) between theirs and ours was maintained by the RM of Portage, and they never sent us a bill," says RM of Westlake-Gladstone mayor David Single. "They maintained about four miles and we maintained about one. Now with the new G3 Elevator that road is getting used an awful lot more."

He says the RM of Portage asked for assistance to maintain that boundary road and both came up with an agreement. Westlake-Gladstone will handle their mile they've always maintained, and the RM of Portage will cover a mile, and both won't charge each other. The remaining three miles will be graveled by Portage and Westlake-Gladstone will fund it.
