Recreation Opportunities for Kids' (ROK) Learn 2 Skate and Hockey Development Program wrapped up with a full ice scrimmage today. Grades five and six La Verendrye School students took part in the final skate at the BDO Centre in Portage la Prairie.

"The kids are so excited now that they're out there playing hockey. From the first session when half of them were going up and down the ice with skate-aids to what they can do now, they're pretty excited about it."

Grade five student Ami Murrell says all the coaches and players were really friendly, and they all learned quite a bit this year. "We learned how to stop and turn around, and spin too. This is the last time out so we had a fun game."

"My favourite part about the program was spending time with all of my friends" says grade six student Jesse Mousseau. "I learned how to skate backwards for the first time. It was kind of hard but it was okay."

Parker adds all the students were a little upset that about the last day. "Hopefully, we will see them out on the outdoor rinks, and get them down to sticks and pucks."

ROC's 50/50 for kids is on right now. If they sell all $20,000 tickets you could win $50,000. You can find all of the information here.
