A barbecue was held by the folks at Service Ability and Mobility (SAM) Incorporated today in front of the Co-op Food Store in Portage la Prairie.

SAM's Devan Woolley says they're an organization that loves to help out with groups like Central Plains Cancer Care.

"People helping people is a big thing for us, and we just wanted to do something nice for the community, and everyone at SAM has been touched by cancer, so it really seemed like a good idea," says Woolley. "We love helping out. It's never a dull moment with SAM and it's never a dull day."

CPCC Executive Director Sharilyn Knox says the funds raised are always appreciated.

"We appreciate organizations like this who will hold events and fundraise for us, and just show our support," says Knox.
