The executive director of Central Plains Cancer Care Services in Portage la Prairie is looking back on the last two years. Judy Sauder's tendered her resignation, as she prepares to move back to Ontario for personal reasons. She says leaving wasn't an easy decision, describes Central Plains Cancer Care as a fantastic organization. Sauder says one aspect of the work that really stands out in her mind is the people she's worked with during her time as executive director.

"Making a difference in people's lives is one of the reasons I took on this role, and every day I've been able to fulfill that. So many people in our service area are diagnosed with cancer, and we're here to help in any way we can to make their journey a little bit easier."

Another highlight for Sauder has been the events and fundraisers hosted by the organization, and the many partnerships that play a vital role in their work. She says being able to see how the fundraisers grew and succeed made for an exciting two years, noting one of these events stands out as a major highlights.

"The fashion shows. Definitely the fashion shows. We have one in Portage and one in Neepawa, and they raise a lot of funds for us. A lot of people come out to those events and have a great time, and of course the models are all cancer survivors."

Sauder's going to remain in the position until August 31st. During that time, she'll be working with the selection committee to help with the hiring process and preparing everything the future executive director will need for the role.
