The Catcheway family is continuing its search efforts to find missing daughter Jennifer Leigh who disappeared nine years ago just before her 18th birthday. Today, Monday, June 19th, is her birthday. Her father Wilfred was glad to be able to continue on the grounds they started to search during the winter.

Wilfred Catcheway"Sunday we met with chief and council at the Days Inn," says Catcheway. "They gave us full support for our search at Dakota Tipi. That's good news. We're going to be beginning by the dump area."

He notes their search in Grand Rapids and Duck Bay caused them to learn of stories that led them back to Dakota Tipi. He notes the reserve gave them free use of a backhoe.

Dakota Tipi First Nation councillor Eric Pashe says he and chief Keith Pashe met with the Catcheways Sunday when they gave a formal request to search the reserve. He adds they're giving the family their full support, granting them formal permission. Pashe says the family was very respectful in their request.

Bernice Catcheway"This has been a very long road for the Catcheway family," adds Cpl. Sean Farrell of the RCMP Major Crime Unit and lead investigator into Jennifer’s death. "I cannot imagine what they have had to endure during the last nine years. We work closely with the family and continue to investigate. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and contact police. Please don’t assume we know what you know. If you know anything, please reach out."

Bernice Catcheway, mother, says they'd like you to volunteer and help them in Dakota Tipi's search. She says it would be a miracle to bring her home the week of her birthday.  You can contact Bernice to volunteer your efforts at (204) 872-4955 or at home at (204) 240-6354.
