Highway 3 saw two serious collisions occur only 16 hours apart. Two vehicles collided yesterday 3 kilometres north of Sperling in the RM of Morris. A pickup truck driving south crossed over the centre line and collided head-on with a northbound service utility truck and both vehicles went into the ditch. The driver of the pickup, a 68-year-old male from Gimli, was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since been upgraded to stable with serious injuries. A 65-year-old female passenger in the pickup, also from Gimli, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. Charges are being considered under the highway traffic act and alcohol was not a factor in this collision.

Then today around 6:40 a.m. Headingley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3, five kilometres north of Sanford in the RM of Macdonald. A northbound car driven by a 28-year-old male from Winnipeg veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-trailer. The 28-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation in both cases continues.
