The Municipality of Norfolk Treherne council has passed a resolution to complete a study which looks at the possibility of putting a sewer system into Rathwell. Reeve Craig Spencer says they've decided to hire WSP at a cost of 7,400 dollars to update a study so that council can go back to the residents of Rathwell with a firm idea of what a sewer would cost each individual. Spencer notes it's only fair that ratepayers know the cost and adds while everyone would love to have the service, not everybody would necessarily want to pay the price for it.

He says currently septic fields are grandfathered and any new structures are required to have a holding tank. Spencer notes Rathwell has a high water table so council has been given information on which system to use in that kind of situation, adding they'll have to mesh that data with the desires of the community.
