Yearly sidewalk repairs should be getting underway in the Town of Arborg soon.

Mayor Randy Sigurdson says they approved tenders at their recent council meeting.

"We awarded it to the lower of the bids which happened to be from Ready Form Construction, who are locals here," says Sigurdson. "We're happy to award it to them because they do a very good job for us whenever they get the tenders and they've done a lot of work for us. The price was good in our estimation as well."

Some areas Arborg plans to do sidewalk work include 1st Avenue, behind the town office and close to where a brand new apartment complex was built a couple of years ago. 250 feet of sidewalk will run from the back lane on 1st Avenue, west to William Street. Paving is also planned to join the sidewalk to main roadways, including curbs and gutters. Also planned is the east side sidewalk on Crosstown Avenue. It's being done from David Street to St. Peter Street, which equals about 697 feet of sidewalk.

"We might get them (Ready Form) to do some repairs here and there as well." adds Sigurdson. "We designate a certain amount of money every year to fix up the sidewalks, we've been doing it for many years now and it's just ongoing."

The total value of the tender for the 2017 sidwalk work is $80,362.00.
