Yesterday afternoon Portage Collegiate in conjunction with the City held the 11th annual Career and Opportunities Expo. Portage Collegiate Institue Career Counsellor Carol Stewart says this year they thought it would be great to bring in the grade 9 classes as well. Stewart notes although some students aren't thinking about careers they are interested in summer and part time work. She adds it's a great  opportunity for them as local businesses are brought right into the school.

Stewart says sometimes young adults are shy and the local businesses did a great job in engaging the kids and inviting them to ask questions. She adds the students can now put faces and names to the businesses they are interested in and it was a great opportunity to get their foot in the door.
