The Portage la Prairie MS Walk wrapped up with some sunshine yesterday.

Fundraising Coordinator Leanne Bower gives her thoughts on the day.

"It was fantastic. The weather's holding out, so we've been really really pleased that we had a lot of walk-on registrations which we absolutely love. I just took over this Portage Walk this year, and it's been amazing. Our sponsors have been incredible that our sponsoring us as the route and rest stop sponsors. We have some incredible volunteers here in the city who've coming out to help us. So it's just been a blast."

2016 was Bower's first time coordinating the event, and she was thrilled with how many people came out.

"I'm going to guess that we're probably around the 150 mark for our participants, I could be way off because we've had a lot of walk-on's, so that's even better. Last year we had about 160, so that's fairly close I think. So we've had a good number and we're really pleased with that."

She says there's still some time to get pledges in to boost their total.

"Our goal is certainly to get about that $20,000, and we've had some great pledges come in even that we were really surprised with. So we actually take pledges in until about June 13th, so even those who are walking today -- or even those who come on as walk-on registrations -- they can actually join us today, and still collect pledges for the next couple of weeks."
