Manitoba Sustainable Energy Association's (ManSEA) holding a conference in Portage la Prairie this week.

The Sustainable Energy and Carbon Pricing conference is Wednesday at the William Glesby Centre in town.

"The conference this year is going to focus on sustainable energy and carbon pricing," says Wayne Digby, Secretary-Treasurer for ManSEA. "We'll be taking a look at the whole sustainable energy situation and how renewable or sustainable sources of energy might play a role in reducing carbon emissions, and the whole carbon pricing situation."

Digby says it's an all day event with many different guest speakers, and lunch.

"we've invited (speakers) to provide their insights into how the renewable energy sector might be a part of the strategy of reducing carbon emissions."

Digby says they'll Curtis Hall from Climate Change Connections, Senior Economic Development Consultant from the Province of Manitoba Juliane Schaible, and they'll be talking about the climate change and the whole situation on carbon pricing.

"We'll also have people from Manitoba Hydro, the Trucking Association, and from the agricultural perspective. The solar renewable energy sector, and also talking the geothermal sector, and Bruce Duggan to talk about the biomass situation."

Digby encourages everyone interested in attending to register at their website so they can have an idea of how many meals are needed. It runs from 8 to 4 on Wednesday.
