The Portage Has Talent Competition at the Portage Potato Festival was a hit with all in attendance.

Youth City Councillor Donnovan Hillman says it really was an amazing experience.

"The amount of people that were out there, and you really think that's completely incredible. The contestants that signed up not only got prizes, but they got to play the venue of one of the biggest festivals in the city here. So not only the prizes were good for them, but the overall experience. To have that many eyes looking up at them, I'm just overall really -- really -- impressed."

Musician Josh Harris won the first time competition. He was thrilled to take home the top prize and says it's always special for him playing in Portage.

"To be honest, I love Portage, and I love playing for Portage. It's quite the experience to come back home, just because you never get the chance to see those familiar faces. I guess a lot when you play in the city you see a lot of different faces, and you meet a lot of new faces, but it's nice to come home and see the familiar faces and be able to share my gift with them."

2nd place went to the Solid Rock Dance Group.
