The teddies were tossed early in the game at this year's annual Teddy Bear Toss for the Salvation Army.

After an early goal in last night's game for the Portage Terriers, hundreds of stuffed bears flew through the air and onto the ice to be picked up and added to the Salvation Army's Christmas hampers. Major Brenda Coles of the Salvation Army explains they put on this event every year so that families who are finding things tight financially can still have some holiday joy. She notes they want to make sure every child gets a stuffed animal.

Coles explains the community's support of the toss is fantastic.

"It's always great, I say it time and time again but the community is so supportive and, I say it time and time again but it's so true, we couldn't do it without them. They really get behind us and it's fantastic."

She notes last year they collected over 300 bears and believes they've collected at least 350 this year.
