Like farmers in many parts of Manitoba growing projects for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank are having a tough time getting their crops harvested.

“It has been a tough year for our volunteers and projects across the province because it has been really wet in a lot of places and many other crops have been damaged ” said Manitoba Coordinator Harold Penner.

Growing projects still have a lot of soybeans, canola, corn and sunflowers to be harvested.

It still amazes Harold Penner how giving volunteers and farmers are towards the growing projects. “It can vary a lot there are some farmers that will say I have to get mine done and there are others who will leave theirs and come out and help.”

Either way Penner is pleased with the support and he says it will be sometime closer to spring before the group has a clearer picture on how much was raised from the 2016 growing season.
