The Municipality of Norfolk-Treherne will not have an empty seat at the table, the next time Council gets together.

The by-election to fill the four vacant spots on Council was held on September 4th, and it was successful when it comes to the turnout.

Roger Bouvier, Interim CAO"Speaking for the two polls we had in the office here, and it was basically steady from 8 to 8," says Roger Bouvier, the interim CAO for the municipality. "We had line-ups pretty well all day. In the end, we had a 67 per cent turnout, which is amazing for a municipal election."

He says those not familiar with municipal elections may not be impressed.

"I know it's only two-thirds, but I think the numbers are usually closer to the one-third, not two-thirds," says Bouvier. "40 per cent is probably more of a good average, but 67 is an amazing number."

Moving forward, Bouvier wants to make sure the council is ready for their first official meeting, together.

"Next Tuesday, September 10th, I'm doing a training session for all members of Council. At least, that's the plan, right now," says Bouvier. "On the 12th, we're having our first regular meeting of this council. All our council meetings are open to the public."

Ryan Gaultier was elected in Ward 1, Albert Lesage won in Ward 2, while Steve Nicholson and Gilles Guertin were elected in Ward 3.
