The Westbourne Longburn Community Hall has received a $15,000 donation from Richardson Pioneer Dundonald to help with the hall's upcoming renovations.

President of the Westbourne Longburn Community Club, Marshall Sneesby, explains the money will be used to help improve the accessibility of the centre.

"We're wanting to upgrade our bathrooms to make them more accessible and we the want to have the power-assist doors on the exterior of our building. Just make it more user-friendly."

He notes this donation will help to cover a good half of the costs of the bathroom renovation, adding they're very appreciative.

Richardson Pioneer Dundonald's Director of Operations Devon Smith explains the inspiration behind the contribution.

"The Westbourne area has been home to our business since the early nineties and the hall is an important gathering place for the hall. So when we had an opportunity to contribute to the hall we jumped at the opportunity and through the Richardson Foundation we were able to nominate the project and we were successful in our bid. As a whole group we were very excited about it."

He adds it's very important to the company to be able to give back to the communities in which they work and live.

The renovations to the hall are scheduled to begin in March as the curling season winds down.
