The Whoop and Hollar Folk Festival is taking in another year on the island on Portage la Prairie's fairgrounds from August 28-29.

Artistic Director and Co-organizer Josh Wright says two full evenings are slated at the drive-in version of the festival.

"Each night on Friday and Saturday there will be four hours of Manitoba music," says Wright. " Each night has four acts perform. Both nights are opened by local artists. Chris Messytone and Gareth Rice performs on Friday night with their instrumentals and keyboard pop and world fusion music playing together."

Ed Goertzen and his daughter Rhea open up the night on Saturday. Three popular Manitoba artists take it from there for the rest of that night.

He explains a limit of 72 vehicles -- or pod passes -- are allowed, with 45 spots reserved for cars and motorcycles, and 27 spots reserved for larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks and vans, all due to COVID restrictions.
