The RM of Woodlands is utilizing a new service that Reeve Trevor King says should streamline and better organize public works.

At its meeting Tuesday, Woodlands Council approved an agreement with All-Net to provide an electronic service tracker to the municipality. King says it will cost just over $4,000 initially and also carries an annual fee of around $2,000.

"The main benefit will be for public works, for requests of work to be done," King explains. "Not only by council, but by the ratepayers. Anybody that phones and has a complaint about something, like a road or drainage issue, all these things will get recorded and tracked and then prioritzed. It's just a way of keeping track of all the projects we've got going or complaints, and making sure No. 1 they get addressed or dealt with one way or another. We feel it could make things a little more efficient and a little more accountable for getting done."

King notes the municipality plans on trying the service for a year and then evaluating whether how well it's working to streamline service.
