A state of the art boar research station will soon be built in the R.M. of Woodlands.

Reeve Trevor explains where the company, Topigs Norsvin, will be locating their facility.

"So it's going to be located in the north-east part of our community pasture. The municipality now has taken over the community pasture so we sold them 80 acres of land, it was in the community pasture, on the edge of it, to construct this facility there."

The research station is a world class facility and will be the only one of its kind in the province. King says they're quite excited it's being built in their municipality, noting it should create plenty of economic benefits.

"Well, number one, I think, the facility itself, a nine or ten million dollar facility can create some tax dollars, not to mention, I think, there's supposed to be 15 jobs that come out of it. So it'll create some economic activity."

Construction on the facility is set to begin soon and King says it should likely be completed by next year.
