Camp Day took place in Portage la Prairie, and was conducted by the local Tim Horton's yesterday. The effort raises money to send Portage kids to camp. Last year three youth for our city attended camp because of the program. General Manager Stephanie Arnott says they sold 3,000 cups of coffee for the cause to help local kids who otherwise couldn't attend camp.

"Tim Horton's have numerous camps across Canada and they send students or children there," says Arnott. "Some  who go are younger, ranging all the way up to teenagers. Some of the camps are for leadership. Others teach you how to have self confidence."

She notes the program's important, especially in our current day, seeing as it teaches life skills, leadership and how to deal with issues youth have not been dealing with in the past, including harassment and mental health issues.
