Looking back at the Holiday Season the Salvation Army Here in Portage la Prairie can reflect positively. Major Brenda Hammond outlines over the holidays 425 Christmas hampers were given out. She adds though the numbers of hampers may seem lower, it's not. Hammond explains this year, households of four received large hampers rather than multiple. Overall Hammond insists it was a great distribution cycle over the holidays.

The Salvation Army also did very well this year with regards to the Christmas Kettle Campaign. Through donations just over $35,400 was raised from within the community. Hammond praises this year's Kettle Coordinator, Ilgin Irmak, for her hard work and dedication to the position. Hammonds adds, it was a lot of money raised, and just what they needed to cover Christmas.

Hammond would like to give a special thanks to those who volunteered and or donated. She adds the Salvation Army is very grateful for the local businesses that hosted them. The participating businesses were Pankos, Portage Super Market, Portage Co-op, Walmart, Sobeys, both Liquor Marts and Canadian Tire.
