CreditCardFraud

Be aware of what's out there. Is it safe to enter your credit card information?

We've all seen them, emails from people claiming to be a friend or family member looking for money to get out of a tight spot while vacationing in some foreign country. It's pretty easy to tell these emails are scams. But there are a plethora of other ways scammers from all over the world are trying to get into our pockets. Whether it be putting up false websites that look VERY similar to sites we're used to visiting (Facebook, for example), or companies that claim to be secure looking for your credit card information.

March is Fraud Prevention Month, and if you know someone who may be vulnerable to scams like these (or if you want to read up on what's out there and what to avoid) the Federal Government has put together a Fraud Prevention website, INCLUDING the Little Black Book of Scams which lists all financial traps you may encounter online, by telophone, or in the mail.

If my grandfather was still alive, I would totally have read up on this and passed along the information. But he was a grizzly man who hated talking on the telephone and refused to bother with the internet, so I knew he'd never get trapped into something like this. If your's is the opposite, feel free to take a look, and let me know what you think!
