Kids in the Portage area going into foster care will soon find the transition more bearable.

Portager Sheila Kristenson is overwhelmed with the response the Portage area has shown to a toy drive she started nearing the end of may -- the stuffed toys and duffel bags collected will be distributed to these children to ease their situation.

While the drive doesn't end until the 30th of this month, Kristenson's expectations have already been surpassed.  She only expected to receive between five and six hundred donations.

Kristenson was inspired to organize the drive after learning about a similar drive started in Winnipeg by an 11 year old girl.

To date she's received 808 toys and 67 nap sacks.
