Update Monday, April 22nd - the pot has yet to go it will now be over $54,167.00 on Saturday, April 27th with 3 cards remaining.

The Holland Area Lions Club is seeing their Chase the Ace as high as it has ever been, and they are excited to be down to the last couple of cards.

Morris Drummond, the President of Holland and Area Lions Club is thrilled to see the pot reaching a staggering $37,879.40, adding to the intense atmosphere of the event.

"Everybody's so full of optimism until that card or that ticket is drawn, and then there are usually a lot of groans in the crowd when they don't have the card or the ticket. The person who wins or has the ticket, there's usually a bunch of cheers, and then everybody claps, and they come up."

He says these funds always go a long way with the Lions Club.

"It's fantastic to have the support. We donate around 90% of our funds locally and/or to various organizations. For example, the ball diamond is undergoing a pile of renovations. We've donated to the rink and the Friendship Center. We have also donated a few times to community members who are cancer patients to cover the cost of travel for treatments."

The President says this round of Chase the Ace has been going on for 47 weeks, which he says is astonishing.

"We started this back in October, and it's been every Saturday since; I don't even think there were any Blizzard nights that made us call the night off."

Drummond expects this week's Chase the Ace to be exhilarating, with many people in attendance. He is encouraging everyone to go and see the money possibly be given out this Saturday at the Holland Hotel.
