Portage CFS will follow the suggestions of a recent inquest report.

The Child and Family Services chapter in Portage supports an inquest recommendation released earlier this week.

The report follows the drowning death of a toddler in a hot tub over two years ago, and suggests all hot tubs in foster homes be secured by a locking hard cover when not in use.

George Macdonald of CFS likes the idea, and agrees it'll help reduce the likelihood of accidents.  He ensures the recommendation will be honored and included in their operations, particularly in the foster home assessments.

The province shouldn't have any problems with new hot tub models, as the recommendation was included in the provincial building code last month.

While the inquest report is directed towards foster care, Macdonald says the urgency in safety should extend to all parents.
