Another Portage la Prairie resident has committed to the MJHL next season.

Maddox Shindle spent last season in Dauphin playing with the Parkland Rangers of the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League. He describes how the season went for him and his squad.

"It was a great year. I really enjoyed living up in Dauphin. I got to meet a lot of new people; my billet family was great. The results through the season weren't really what we were hoping for, we missed the playoffs, but overall, it was a great experience."

Shindle signed his Letter of Intent to join the Virden Oil Capitals next year, and outlines what the process included.

"I got listed at the end of my Grade 11 year after my high school season. I had been going to some camps there, and through that, they just saw something and decided they wanted to take a chance with me and sign me."

Virden Oil Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Tyson Ramsey spoke to what Shindle brings to the team.

"We really like, first of all, his size, and really like how he sees the ice. Maddox is an excellent puck-mover, he sees the ice very well and he's got good skills. He's a great kid and we feel like the sky's the limit for him. He's just starting to develop as a player, and we can't wait to see where it goes."

Shindle played in two regular season games with Virden this past year and will look to be a regular in the lineup when next season rolls around.
