A routine check into a public drinking complaint turned into a large drug bust for Portage RCMP this past weekend. On Saturday at around 7:30 pm, RCMP responded to the complaint of people drinking on the street on Saskatchewan ave. Police found three men and one woman in a vehicle in a parking lot on Saskatchewan ave and 5th st NE. During the investigation, police observed drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle. Further investigation led to the discovery of various other drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and what are believed to be speed and ecstasy pills. There were enough pills for around 450 doses. The four suspects were arrested, and three were later released without charge. An 18 year old man from Quebec was released and is to appear in court with drug possession and drug trafficking charges pending.
